The area hosts a rich variety of flora and fauna and a big effort is made to ensure local development goes hand in hand with the protection of this natural and historical heritage. The park has been made accessible for all by walking routes, bird spotting locations, etc.
The campsite is situated on the side of the shallow salt water lake Etang de Bages, which is an exceptional natural site that receives regular visits from rare birds like the pink flamingos.
La Nautique in the heart of the regional park is a perfect venue for long walks, beautiful cycle rides and water sports.
Narbonne's rich cultural history is worth a visit: La Via Domitia, the St Just St Pasteur cathedral, the canal de la Robine, the market halls. As a former capital of the area the old city centre is a labyrinth of little streets and alleys with many Renaissance style remains. With the archbishop's Palace in the centre of town, Narbonne resembles to no other city.
A nice day trip into the countryside will bring you to the (ruins of) the medieval Cathar castles, often situated on 800 meter high cliffs overlooking the spectacular and wild landscape of the Aude region.
An exciting venue that is open 365 days a year hosting 3800 animals on 300 hectares of land, woods and water. During the first part of the visit by car you can see the lions, bears, giraffes, white rhinos, ostriches and antelopes. During the second part by foot you will come across the elephants, camels, chimpanzees and alligators.
